West Bengal: Raid at the house of Mamata government minister Jyotipriya, ration distribution scam

Worth crores scam case

Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials raided several places, including the residence of West Bengal Minister Jyotipriya Malik, early today in connection with the ongoing investigation into an alleged ration distribution scam worth several crores of rupees Raids have been started.

Information has been received that an ED raid is going on at the residence of State Minister Jyotipriya Mallik in Salt Lake, Kolkata in the alleged case of corruption in ration distribution.

Along with houses, eight other flats were also raided

The Enforcement Directorate official said, “The minister was not there during the raid. He came later and his phone had been taken. Eight officers are present inside the flat.“We are also conducting searches at the residence of his former personal assistant in Dumdum and some other places.”Regarding the raid at the house of Jyotipriya, a minister in the Mamata government, the official said that the Enforcement Directorate, with the help of a team of central forces, arrested two brothers of State Forest Minister Malik located in Kolkata Salt Lake area.

The official said the central probe agency has already arrested a person who allegedly has close links with the ruling Trinamool Congress and Malik. Let us tell you that a few days ago, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested a Kolkata-based businessman Bakibur Rahman in the case of irregularities in ration distribution in West Bengal. Rehman was arrested after central agency sleuths conducted a marathon raid and search operation at his residence and hotel in Kaikhali on the northern outskirts of Kolkata.

On ED raid on West Bengal minister Jyoti Priya Mallik in Kolkata, TMC leader Dr Shashi Panja says, “…There is no other definition of this other than vendetta politics.”
