Delhi High Court has changed the death sentence of terrorist Arij Khan convicted of killing Inspector Mohan Chandra Sharma of Delhi Police in the Batla House Encounter case held in 2008. Ariz is a member of the Indian Mujahidin, a banned terrorist organization in the country.

Delhi High Court has given a major verdict in the Batla House Encounter case held in 2008. The court has changed the death penalty given to Arij Khan convicted in the murder of Delhi Police Inspector Mohan Chandra Sharma. The court has changed the death sentence in Arij to reduced tax life imprisonment.

Was found to be a death sentence

In March 2021, a lower court in Delhi convicted Arij Khan in the encounter case of Batla House and sentenced him to death. Along with this, the court had fined Arij Khan Rs 11 lakh and ordered for immediate release of Rs 10 lakh to the family of deceased Police Inspector Mohan Chandra Sharma. The court, in its judgment, convicted Arij, saying that it had been proved that Arij and his associates had killed the police officer. The Delhi High Court then secured its decision in the month of August after hearing the arguments of the Delhi Police and Ariz’s lawyer in the case.

What was the Batla House Encounter

The special cell of Delhi Police arrived at Batla House in the Jamia area on 19 September 2008, investigating the case after the serial bomb blast in the country’s capital Delhi. However, there were encounters with police terrorists in which Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma was martyred. Then Arij Khan escaped from the spot. However, the police continued the search and in 2018 Arij was arrested. Please say that the police have described Areez as a member of the Indian Mujahideen, a banned terrorist organization in the country.
