IMD issues important notice for these states, ‘HAMOON’ cyclone storm is coming from the Bay of Bengal

An alert has been issued regarding cyclonic storm Hamoon in the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for some states including Odisha and said that its impact will be visible.

After it turns into a cyclonic storm, this cyclonic storm will be called ‘Hamun’. The weather system was located over west-central Bay of Bengal after the storm moved north-eastwards on Sunday night.

“It is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours,” the IMD’s morning bulletin said.

It is very likely to move north-eastwards and cross Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Chittagong around the evening of October 25 as a deep depression.”

Warning issued for Odisha

The Odisha government has issued instructions to all district collectors to be prepared for any situation and has asked the administration to evacuate people from low-lying areas in case of heavy rains.

The Department of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development has advised fishermen not to venture into the deep sea. There is a possibility of rain in the coastal districts of the state for the next two days.

The IMD said light to moderate rain is likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya and coastal districts of West Bengal.

Cyclonic storm is increasing rapidly

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department said that cyclone ‘Tej’, which intensified into an extremely severe cyclonic storm on Sunday, is likely to weaken into an extremely severe cyclonic storm.

The weather agency said Cyclone Tej is likely to intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm on the morning of October 24 and cross the Yemen-Oman coast between Al Ghayda in Yemen and Salalah in Oman.
