Aam Man Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha have been dealt a major blow by the Patiala House Court of Delhi. The court has ordered Raghav Chadha to vacate his Type 7 bungalow. The court has removed the ban on the process of emptying the bungalow from MP Raghav Chadha, with the right stay of the notice of the Rajya Sabha. Let us know what is the whole matter.

What is the whole matter?

Indeed, MP Raghav Chadha was allocated a Type-6 bungalow at Pandara Park on 6 July last year. However, the MP requested the Speaker of the Rajya Sabha to allocate type-7 accommodation on 29 August. He was then allocated a new bungalow. However, this allocation was cancelled by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat in the month of March this year.

Raghav went to court

MP Raghav Chadha went to court against the evacuation of Type-7 accommodation by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat. The advocate of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat had said that being Rajya Sabha MP, Raghav Chaddha has the right to allocate a Type 6 Bungalow and not a Type 7 Bungalow. The court had directed the secretariat in April month not to evict Chadha from the bungalow without the prescribed procedure of law till the application was pending. However, now the court has lifted this ban. According to media reports, the court said that Raghav cannot claim that he has the right to hold government housing for the entire term. This is simply the privilege given to them.

What did Raghav Chadha say?

Raghav Chadha’s statement has also come out after the court’s decision. The MP said that it was arbitrary to cancel the allotted official accommodation without notice. This is the first time in the history of more than 70 years of Rajya Sabha that an existing Rajya Sabha member is being sought to be removed from his duly allotted accommodation. While his tenure is over 4 years. Raghav alleged that Rajya Sabha members are living in more houses than their eligibility. He has accused the ruling party of doing politics of vengeance.
