This employment-based green card application backlog comes on top of an 83 million case backlog for family-sponsored systems. The report states that this means that legal immigration is almost impossible in the US. Even entering the backlog is considered a privilege, And those who get into that phase face the possibility of not getting a green card for decades or even a lifetime.
