Good news for those who still have 2000 rupee notes ( 2000 rupee note). The Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) has extended the last date for change of note of Rs 2000 from 30 September 2023. People will now be able to exchange their 2000 rupee note by 7 October 2023 (2000 rupee note exchange) or change. The Reserve Bank issued a notification about this on Saturday. This will relieve many people. Reserve Bank has also given necessary instructions to banks from 18 October 2023.
The legal tender will remain 2000 rupee notes
According to the news, the Reserve Bank of India ( RBI) has stated in the ongoing notification that as of 19 May 2023, the notes of Rs 2000 worth Rs 3.56 lakh crore were in circulation. In these, 3.42 lakh crores have returned to the banks. By the time of closing on 29 September 2023, two thousand rupees of Rs 0.14 lakh crore worth of Rs 0.14 lakhs remained present in the note ( 2000 rupee note) circulation. The Reserve Bank has also made it clear that the 2000 rupee notes will remain legal tender.

Earlier on Friday, there was news that the central bank could extend the deadline for changing the note of Rs 2000. There was discussion that RBI could bring special exemptions for those who have missed the deadline.
A note can be changed by going to any bank
If you want to change this note now, you can go to any bank and change it without any document. A survey by RBI revealed that people prefer the least of the 2000 rupee notes ( 2000 rupee note). RBI has closed the printing of new notes of Rs 2000 since 2019.
